SU-BODHINISUHMA.<br />

STT-BODHINt A commentary by Yisweswara Bha#a on the<br />

law-book called Mitakshara.<br />

SU-BBAHMAJVYA. A name of Kaittikeya> god of war,<br />

used especially in the South. See Karttikeya.<br />

SU-CHAETJ. A son of ~K.rish.na, and BukmmL<br />

SU-DAS/SANA. A name of Kn'shm's chakra or discus<br />

weapon, See Yajra-nabha.<br />

StJDAS. A king who frequently appears in the Ji%-veda,<br />

and at whose court the rival J&shis Yasish&a and Yiswamitra<br />

are represented as living. He was famous for his sacrifices.<br />

SU-DESHKA. Son of Krishwa and Bukmira.<br />

OTXDESHNA, 'Good-looking.' i. Wife of the Baja of<br />

Yirafa, the patron of the disguised Paw^avas, and mistress of<br />

DraupadL 2. Also the wife of Balin.<br />

SU-DHAEMA, SU-DHAEMAK The haU of Indra, the<br />

unrivalled gem of princely courts," which Kn'shwa commanded<br />

Indra to resign to Ugrasena, for the assemblage of the race of<br />

Yadu. After the death of Knshm it returned to Ladra's<br />

heaven.<br />

SU-DYUMNA. Son of the Manu Yaivaswata At his birth<br />

he was a female, Ha, but was afterwards changed into a male and<br />

called Su-dyumna. Under the curse of /Siva he again became<br />

Ha, who married Budha or Mercury, and was mother of Puru-<br />

ravas. By favour of Yishfiu the male form was again recovered,<br />

and Su-dyumna became the father of three sons, This legend<br />

evidently has reference to the origin of the Lunar race of kings.<br />

SU-GBlYA. *<br />

Handsome neck.' A monkey king who was<br />

dethroned by his brother Balin, but after the latter had been<br />

killed, Su-griva was re-installed by Eama as king at Kishkin-<br />

dhya. He, with his adviser Hanuman and their army of<br />

monkeys, were the allies of Eania in his war against Bavaria, in<br />

which he was wounded. He is said to have been son of the sun,<br />

and from his paternity he is called Eavi-nandana and by other<br />

similar names. He is described as being grateful, active in aiding<br />

his friends, and able to change his form at will. His wife's<br />

name was Buma.<br />
