David Abulafia is Professor of Mediterranean History at
Cambridge University. His books include The Western Mediterranean
Kingdoms (1997), and he has edited The Mediterranean
in History (2003).
Susan E. Alcock is John H. D’Arms Collegiate Professor of
Classical Archaeology and Classics at the University of Michigan.
Author most recently of Archaeologies of the Greek Past:
Landscape, Monuments and Memories (2002), she is a 2001
recipient of a MacArthur Fellowship.
Christopher Drew Armstrong is currently a post-doctoral
fellow in the Department of Fine Art at the University of
Toronto, where he is preparing a book on architectural theory
in the French Enlightenment.
Roger S. Bagnall is a professor in the History and Classics
Departments at Columbia University and author of, among
other books, Egypt in Late Antiquity (1993) and Reading Papyri,
Writing Ancient History (1995).
Glen Bowersock is Professor of Ancient History at the Institute
for Advanced Study in Princeton. He has published over a
dozen books on the Roman Empire, Late Antiquity, and the
Ancient Near East.
Alain Bresson is professor of Ancient History at the University
Michel-de-Montaigne Bordeaux 3. Among his recent publications
is La Cité marchande (2001); he is preparing a new
work of synthesis on the economy of ancient Greece.
Angelos Chaniotis is Professor of Ancient History and Vice-
Rector at the University of Heidelberg. He is co-editor of the
Supplementum Epigraphicum Graecum, and with Pierre Ducrey
has recently edited Army and Power in the Ancient World (2002).
