Beach heaven, Mayan culture, the Cuban spirit and a legend beneath
the sails: Puerto Limón (San José) – Havana
Idyllic beaches on idyllic islands
San Andrés and Roatán are two picture-perfect islands
dominated by three distinct colours: the rich green of
swaying palm trees, the white sand of the beaches and
the deep turquoise of the sea.
The world’s second largest coral reef
This trip includes a number of fantastic snorkel sites, but
the most beautiful is undoubtedly Belize’s Lighthouse
Reef, which features the famous Great Blue Hole. After
the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, this coral reef is the
second largest in the world.
Mayan cities in Mexico and Belize
There are many fascinating facts about the Mayans, a civilisation
that dominated Central America for centuries. Stone
ruins stand as testament to their way of life at important
sites such as Altun Ha, the former city of Lamanai which lies
buried in the jungle, and the famous fort of Tulum, the only
coastal Mayan settlement.
Two lecturers accompany the trip
Marion Tippmann-Böge will focus on art, history and culture,
while her husband Dr Rolf Böge combines his passion
for boats and sailing with historical and current events.
Depending upon the circumstances, it is possible that other lecturers will be on board
for this trip.
