When the colours begin to fade and November grey is setting the tone, it is
time for the Sea Cloud to set sail across the Atlantic. Its white sails billow
in the breeze, the wind determines our precise course and for many days the
sky feels closer than the land. Our tall ship sails towards a radiant sun and
into a glowing world of pastel colours: the archipelago of the Lesser Antilles
and the Grenadines.
Here, mother nature has created a wealth of jewels and carved them into
various shapes and forms: The Grenadines, Bequia and Jost van Dyke await
you with their perfect bays and countless beaches, while Virgin Gorda enchants
with unique rock formations, and breathtaking volcanoes tower above
the stunning tropical landscape on Dominica and St Lucia. Each island is a
precious gem in its own right.
No wonder they were considered prized bounty in colonial times, with many
nations fighting over the islands. Today, their architectural legacy forms a
romanticised backdrop, as can be seen in the old fort on the Îles des Saintes.
Sometimes hiding behind these picturesquely washed-out wooden facades
you will find the work of traditional artisans, as seen in Antigua, or exclusive
luxury goods such as those found on the jet-set island of St Barthélemy. Our
legendary tall ship drops anchor where infamous pirates once came to hide
out. And the Sea Cloud only strikes sail where the exceptional is just that
little bit more special: on the sunny side of life – the Lesser Antilles.
