Imperial and ecclesiastical residences, artistic treasures and the Danube’s
idyllic landscapes: Vilshofen (Passau) – Budapest
A lecturer and his passion:
art and architecture
Almost every historical period has left its mark along
the banks of the Danube. The main styles on display in
Vienna and Budapest are baroque and Art Nouveau. Our
on-board expert will talk about each region’s architectural
style and artworks.
Stunning Danube landscapes
The RiveR Cloud ii offers guests a stunning 360-degree
panoramic view of the river’s picturesque banks. The waters
even appear to flow backwards at the Schlögen bend. The
narrow valleys of the Struden and Nibelungen areas are
magnificently beautiful. The Wachau, a UNESCO World
Heritage Site, is a masterpiece composed of fruit trees,
vineyards, castles and villages.
A triad of cultural capitals
It is not only the Danube that links the three capitals of
Vienna, Budapest and Bratislava, but also their collective
history as part of the Austro-Hungarian dual monarchy.
Each century was marked by the erection of a multitude
of monuments.
Palais Liechtenstein
The stately home of the Liechtenstein family is considered
one of the first significant buildings of the Viennese highbaroque
period. The palais is not open to the public, but
we are able to offer our guests an exclusive look inside,
taking you through all the stately baroque rooms, which
feature original furnishings and artworks.
