Sailing along the October winds to Moorish Spain and UNESCO‘s
World Heritage Sites: Palma de Mallorca – Cádiz (Seville)
Valencia – lively, dynamic, traditional
and modern
There are not many cities that can claim to combine modernity
with over 2,000 years of history quite as magnificently
as Valencia does. There is perhaps no other city
that has succeeded in integrating a new, avant-garde
quarter so seamlessly into its centre. And no other European
major city can proudly attest that it has already
hosted the America’s Cup twice – right on its doorstep.
The heart of Ibiza: the island inland
Away from its spectacular coastline and capital, a
UNESCO World Heritage Site, Ibiza shows off its more
traditional side. The island’s hilly landscape is geared
towards agriculture and its irrigation system has Arab
origins – just like the design of the farmers’ quaint
houses. Even the island’s traditional dress, dances,
instruments and dialect originate from the Moor era,
which endured on Ibiza for around 500 years.
The Alhambra in Granada
For many people, visiting the Alhambra, a UNESCO World
Heritage Site, is like stumbling into a fairy tale from Arabian
Nights. The over-abundant stucco ornaments gracing
its ceiling and pillars, the artistically designed patios and
the lush gardens are just as magical today as they ever
were. And the words once written by an Arabian poet still
ring true: “Blessed is the eye that sees this garden of
beauty.”
A lecturer accompanies the trip
Interesting information, entertainment and facts – our
expert is on hand to give you talks on a wide variety of
specialist subjects. He will also be on board to answer
any questions you may have.
