Besides crossing worlds and discovering new lands for
four whole days we let relaxation take a front seat on our
yacht. Plenty of time to enjoy life under the white sails and
to be spoilt in every way.
The world’s second largest coral reef
The Belize Barrier Reef contains countless small coral
islands. The Lighthouse Reef Atoll features a particularly
special natural wonder: the Great Blue Hole, a circular
submarine sinkhole and UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Snorkelling is obviously another great way to discover the
impressive beauty of the reef.
Mayan cities in Mexico and belize
The culture of the Mayans, which began roughly 5,000
years ago and ended around the time of the Spanish conquest,
is still a mystery. On our trip you will discover three
Mayan strongholds: Tulum in Mexico is the only Mayan
city situated on the coast; Altun Ha and Lamanai are in
Belize. Lamanai remained populated for roughly 3,000
years. Excavations have revealed that over 20,000 people
lived here around 700 A.D.
Two lecturers accompany the trip
Even during her degree, Marion Tippmann-Böge was able
to pursue her interests in prehistoric studies, ancient
history, archaeology, ethnology, art history, pedology, and
tourism management. She has worked for museums and
conventions, as well as on research trips. Dr Rolf Böge
is a trained tax adviser with a sea captain’s license. His
talks are inspired by historical topics, special customs at
our destinations and his passion for ships and seatravel.
Depending upon the circumstances, it is possible that other lecturers will be on board
for this trip.
