Madeira and the Azores are located right in the centre of the expansive Atlantic
Ocean. Each island has its own unique landscape – be it jagged craters, wild
coasts or vast plateaus. São Miguel is an example of just how scenic volcanic
islands can be, with its deep black sands, an azure-blue sea, turquoise crater
lakes and gently rolling hills. The port of Horta on Faial, whose quay wall is decorated
with the colourful inscriptions of many sailors, has become somewhat
of a legend. This archipelago is also home to a UNESCO World Heritage Site –
the old town of Angra do Heroísmo on Terceira. But all of these islands have
one thing in common – they all provide a visual spectacle of lush hydrangea
bushes, the blue of the surrounding waters and a rich green landscape.
You can also experience diverse landscapes in the Balearic Islands and the
coastal areas of Spain and France. May is the time when nature starts to flourish
and sun-drenched life on Ibiza and Mallorca begins. Beaches, mountains
and villages glow with the fresh colours of summer and are great places to
explore. St Tropez entices visitors with its promenades and Barcelona provides
everything your heart could possibly desire – famous artworks, a rich cultural
scene, narrow winding streets in the old town and magnificent boulevards.
Our short trips are the perfect getaway for those who are simply looking for
a change of scenery for a few days, whether in Mediterranean waters in the
Sardinian town of Alghero and the Balearic island of Menorca, or with the scent
of the North Sea air as we set our course for Sylt.
