Kanal
Belgian savoir-vivre and dutch flair, picturesque canals, and lake iJssel:
Antwerp (Brussels) – Amsterdam
Feel the beat of jazz and swing with
our musicians on board
Jazz and swing music, which originates from the turn
of the 20th century, can now be played in an almost
inexhaustible range of styles. Look forward to a number
of concerts on board, showcasing a broad spectrum of
sounds.
giethoorn: a village of waterways
The fairy-tale canal-based town of Giethoorn is located
within the largest lowland moor in Western Europe. It
can only be reached by boat and is intersected by canals
instead of roads. Small, centuries-old farm houses stoop
under their thatched roofs and appear to sit enthroned
atop green islands.
Around lake iJssel
Lake IJssel was created just 80 years ago through the
construction of a dam along the mouth of a North Sea
bay. The small villages that now line the quiet banks were
once illustrious international ports during the Netherlands’
golden age, most notably Hoorn and Enkhuizen.
traditional boats at sea
Today the “Brown Fleet”, consisting of around 350 restored
Dutch flat-bottom barges, can be seen sailing across Lake
IJssel. Go back just over a century and these vessels were
still used as freight and fishing boats. Gliding across Lake
IJssel in one of these sailing boats is an unforgettable
experience.
