Days spent lounging in the sun, reliable trade winds, small
islands floating on the horizon, and a tall ship with timelessness
entangled in its sails. Enjoy a relaxing feast for
the senses aboard the Sea Cloud. Watch in amazement
as the team manoeuvre the ship before dropping the
anchor on a new beautiful shore.
A day at the beach on Jost van Dyke
Jost van Dyke is the smallest of the main British Virgin
Islands. This mountainous island is characterised by its
volcanic beauty and features a beach much loved by
sailors – the White Bay. We take the zodiac ashore to
enjoy a relaxed day, not only on and in but also under the
water, followed by some delicious culinary delights served
from the beach barbecue at “Ivan’s Stress-Free Bar”.
The jet-set island of St Barts
Although many like to call it “St Barts” for short, the
island’s official name is St Barthélemy. Having passed
through several different owners, the land was finally
bought by France in 1877 and is now firmly in the hands
of the jet set. Elegant Gustavia entices with classy goods
and glamour hidden away behind restored facades, and
the harbour hosts luxury yachts with famous owners.
Also on board: Dr Constantin Elfe
Although born in Berlin, Constantin Elfe’s schooling, his degree
in history, politics and American Studies and his career
have all led him overseas. A keen sailor, Dr Elfe has been
working as a lecturer on our trips for many years and also
works for the German parliament.
Depending upon the circumstances, it is possible that another lecturer will be on board
for this trip.
