ARTICLE 25 OUT-OF-CLASS ASSIGNMENTS<br />

Section 1. Definition<br />

A. For the purpose of this Article, an out-of-class assignment is the full-time<br />

performance of all the significant duties of an allocated vacant*, funded position in<br />

one class by an individual in another class.<br />

B. The amount of the bonus shall be two standard salary schedules and shall not<br />

constitute a base rate. When a class is compensated on a flat rate, the amount of<br />

the bonus shall not exceed 5% of the base rate. Where the difference between<br />

rates of the employee=s class and the out-of-class assignment is less than the above<br />

bonus, the employee shall receive the rate for the higher class. This bonus is paid<br />

pursuant to the conditions described below.<br />

Section 2. Conditions<br />

A. If an employee is assigned to an out-of-class assignment for more than twenty (20)<br />

consecutive working days, Management shall upon the employee's or Union's<br />

written request for relief either:<br />

appoint the employee according to Civil Service Rules. If the person is<br />

appointed within thirty (30) calendar days from the date of request for relief,<br />

no bonus under this article is to be paid;<br />

*For the purpose of this article, vacancies due to leaves of absence shall be defined as in <strong>County</strong><br />

Code Section 6.20.110.
