Section 6. Notification and Response to Disasters and Public Health Emergencies<br />

The Department of Health Services and the Department of Public Health are committed to<br />

maintaining a healthful working environment and continuing their compliance in meeting the<br />

regulations and guidelines established by the Centers for Disease Control, OSHA, and the<br />

Joint Commission.<br />

A. Bioterrorism, Natural and Human-Made Disasters<br />

1. The Department of Health Services and the Department of Public Health<br />

have established a Decontamination Response Plan for a variety of<br />

disasters. The Department shall notify the union within 60 days of any<br />

proposed changes to any currently established decontamination plan. The<br />

Departments shall provide all medically necessary treatments to public health<br />

disasters, including but not limited to decontamination services and<br />

prophylaxis to affected employees.<br />

2. The Department of Health Services and the Department of Public Health<br />

shall provide training, educational materials and public health advisories on<br />

an ongoing basis to all employees who are assigned to areas that provide<br />

direct patient care about the safe response to, including but not limited to,<br />

chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear contamination or disasters.<br />

Such training shall be provided on <strong>County</strong> time.
