energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions associated with the 2014 goals are shown
in Table 1.1. The emissions are based on the statewide average emissions factor.
12.5 2020 Goals
While the goal of achieving a reduction of greenhouse gas emissions to 1990 levels by 2020
has been set, the lack of data on energy consumption and emission factors in 1990 has made it
infeasible to determine an accurate baseline.
12.6 SEP Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Projects
The Strategic Energy Plan has identified energy efficiency and renewable energy projects to
help meet the greenhouse gas emissions targets of each campus. The impact of these
proposed projects on greenhouse gas emissions is shown in Table 1.1. If the campus chooses
to install the photovoltaic systems proposed in the SEP, they will need to retain ownership of the
renewable energy credits (RECs) associated with the production of electricity from the PV
panels in order to claim credit for the greenhouse gas emissions reductions from the system.
