200 Ensure That Metadata Logins Exist for Users Who Will Schedule Reports R Chapter 20 1 Assign rights to the lsfadmin user to Act as part of the operating system and Log on as a batch job. 2 Add the lsfadmin user to the Administrators Group. This user does not need to be added to the metadata repository. Ensure That Metadata Logins Exist for Users Who Will Schedule Reports For each user who will use SAS Web Report Studio, SAS Data Integration Studio, or another application to schedule jobs, a login (including a password) must exist in the metadata repository. Use User Manager in SAS Management Console to add logins for these users. Step 2: Install Platform Product Suite for SAS Install Platform Product Suite for SAS, using the installation instructions that are provided. The following software will be installed: 3 Process Manager Server 3 Process Manager Client 3 Platform LSF Process Manager Server and Platform LSF must both be installed on the same machine. Platform LSF can also be installed on additional machines to support grid configurations. The Process Manager Client can be installed on any machine or machines. When the Platform Process Manager Setup Wizard prompts for the owner of the Process Manager Server, specify the user that you created in “Set Up the LSF Administrative User and Assign Appropriate Rights” on page 199. For Windows installations, be sure to specify the user’s domain or machine name with the user ID. When the installation process is complete, check to make sure that the following services are running on the server, with the LSF administrative user as owner: 3 LSF cluster name LIM 3 LSF cluster name RES 3 LSF cluster name SBD 3 Process Manager Note: For a scheduled job to work, Platform LSF must be installed on the same machine as the command that will be used to execute the job. The command is provided by the batch server that is associated with the deployed job. R Step 3: Give the LSF Administrative User Full Control of Scheduling Folders Give the LSF administrative user full control of all of the LSF and Process Manager directories. On Windows systems, the default directories include the following: 3 C:\LSF_6.0 3 C:\Program Files\Platform Computing\Platform Process Manager\3.1
Installing and Configuring Platform Product Suite for SAS R Check Error Messages in Platform Flow Manager 201 On UNIX systems, the default directories include the following: 3 /usr/local/LSF_6.0 3 /usr/local/Platform Computing/Platform Process Manager/3.1 Step 4: Define the Process Manager Server A Process Manager Server must be defined in the metadata repository. This server definition might have been created during your initial installation, or you might have created it as part of the process of installing Platform Product Suite for SAS. If the server is not yet defined, define it as follows: 1 In SAS Management Console, right-click Server Manager and select New Server. 2 On the first page of the New Server Wizard, under Scheduling Servers, select Platform Process Manager Server. Click Next. 3 On the next wizard page, enter a name in the Name field (for example, Process Manager Server). 4 On the next wizard page, click Next to accept the default values. 5 On the next wizard page, select DefaultAuth as the Authentication Domain. In the Host Name field, enter the name of the machine that hosts the scheduling server. Accept the default port number of 1966, or enter a different port number if this one is being used. Click Next. 6 On the next wizard page, review the settings, and click Finish. After you have completed the installation and configuration of Platform Product Suite for SAS, you must complete additional configuration steps in order to schedule jobs from SAS applications. See the following topics: 3 Chapter 21, “Scheduling Jobs from SAS Data Integration Studio,” on page 205 3 Chapter 23, “Enabling the Scheduling of Reports,” on page 219 Resolving Issues Related to Scheduling With Platform Product Suite for SAS Check Error Messages in Platform Flow Manager Platform Flow Manager enables you to view status and other information about the jobs that have been scheduled on Platform scheduling servers. To view error messages in Platform Flow Manager, follow these steps: 1 Open Platform Flow Manager on the scheduling server. On Windows systems, click Start s All Programs s Platform Process Manager s Flow Manager. 2 Log on as the scheduling user (lsfuser). You might need to include a domain name or machine name with the user ID. 3 On the left pane of Flow Manager, expand the folder for lsfuser. If you selected Run Now when you scheduled the report, the job will be in a folder called adhoc. In the folder, look for the most recently scheduled job. If the job failed, its name might include (Exit). 4 Double-click on the job name (for example, 1(Exit)). An icon for the job will appear in the right pane. A red icon indicates that errors occurred, and a blue icon indicates that the job was successful. 5 Right-click the icon in the right pane, and select View History.
