serves as input to an installation tool called the <strong>SAS</strong> Software Navigator and to a<br />

planning file<br />

an XML file that contains a list of the products to be installed and the components to<br />

be configured at a site. This file serves as input to both the <strong>SAS</strong> Software Navigator<br />

and the <strong>SAS</strong> Configuration Wizard.<br />

pool<br />

a group of server connections that can be shared and reused by multiple client<br />

applications. A pool consists of one or more puddles. See also puddle.<br />

pooling<br />

the act or process of creating a pool. See pool.<br />

portlet<br />

a Web component that is managed by a Web application and which is aggregated<br />

with other portlets to form a page within the application. A portlet processes<br />

requests from the user and generates dynamic content.<br />

production environment<br />

a computing environment in which previously tested and validated software is used<br />

(typically on a daily basis) by its intended consumers. See also development<br />

environment, testing environment.<br />

project repository<br />

a repository that must be dependent on a foundation repository or custom repository<br />

that will be managed by the Change Management Facility. A project repository is<br />

used to isolate changes from a foundation repository or from a custom repository. The<br />

project repository enables metadata programmers to check out metadata from a<br />

foundation repository or custom repository so that the metadata can be modified and<br />

tested in a separate area. Project repositories provide a development/testing<br />

environment for customers who want to implement a formal change management<br />

promotion<br />

Public Kiosk<br />

a public page that is displayed when a user starts the <strong>SAS</strong> Information Delivery<br />

Portal but has not yet logged on.<br />

publication channel<br />

an information repository that has been established using the <strong>SAS</strong> Publishing<br />

Framework and which can be used to publish information to users and applications.<br />

publish<br />

to deliver electronic information, such as <strong>SAS</strong> files (including <strong>SAS</strong> data sets, <strong>SAS</strong><br />

catalogs, and <strong>SAS</strong> data views), other digital content, and system-generated events to<br />

one or more destinations. These destinations can include e-mail addresses, message<br />

queues, publication channels and subscribers, WebDAV-compliant servers, and<br />

archive locations.<br />

resource template<br />

an XML file that specifies the information that is needed for creating a metadata<br />

definition for a <strong>SAS</strong> resource.
