STEERING HEAD ADJUSTMENT<br />

9. Remove:<br />

washer (ring nut)<br />

nut (upper)<br />

nut (lower)<br />

Support the under bracket so that it may not<br />

fall down.<br />

10. Tighten:<br />

nuts (lower and upper)<br />

By the following tightening steps.<br />

Ring nuts tightening steps:<br />

the ring nut (lower) .<br />

The tapered side of ring nut must face downward.<br />

the ring nut using the Ring Nut<br />

Wrench (YU-33975).<br />

Ring Nut 6 (Initial Tightening):<br />

50 Nm (5.0 36<br />

the ring nut completely and<br />

retighten it to specification.<br />

Do not over-tightening.<br />

Ring Nut (Final Tightening):<br />

3 Nm (0.3m-kg, 2.2 ft.lb)<br />

the steering stem by turning it lock to<br />

lock. If there is any binding, remove the<br />

steering stem assembly and inspect the<br />

steering barings<br />

Refer to "CHAPTER 6. STEERING HEAD"<br />

for more details.<br />

the ring nut (upper) .<br />

NOTE:<br />

The tapered side of ring nut must face downward.<br />

tighten the ring nut , then align<br />

the slots of both ring nuts. If not aligned,<br />

hold the lower ring nut and tighten the<br />

other until they are aligned.<br />
