Valve seat recutting steps are necessary if:<br />

*V alve seat is uniform around perimeter of<br />

valve face but too w ide or not centered on<br />

valve face.<br />

To center the seat or<br />

to reduce its width<br />

face indicates that valve seat is<br />

centered on valve face but is too w ide (see<br />

“a” diagram ).<br />

seat is in the m iddle of the valve face<br />

but too narrow (see “b” diagram ).<br />

ve seat IS too narrow and right up near<br />

valve m argin (see “c” diagram ).
