2-37 BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH ADJUSTMENT/ SPARK PLUG INSPECTION BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH ADJUSTMENT 1. Adjust: light operating timing Hold the main body of the switch with your hand so it does not rotate, and turn the adjuster until the operating timing is correct. SPARK PLUG INSPECTION 1. Inspect: Replace. .Insulator color Normal condition is tan color. a medium to light Distinctly different color engine condition. Check the Spark plug gap 2. Clean: plug Clean the spark plug with a spark plug cleaner or wire brush. 3. Inspect: plug type Incorrect Replace Standard Spark Plug: DPR8EA-9 (NGK) X24EPR-U9 (N.D.) 4. Measure: plug gap Out of specification Regap. Use a wire gauge. 5. Tighten: Plug Spark Plug Gap: 0.8 0.9 mm (0.031- 0.035 in) NOTE: Before installing a spark plug, clean the gasket surface and plug surface. 17.5 Nm (1.75 m-kg, 12.5 ft-lb)
-- HEADLIGHT BULD REPLACEMENT NOTE: If a torque wrench is not available when you are installing a spark plug, a good estimate of the correct torque is 1/4 to 1/2 turns part finger tight. Have the spark plug torqued to the correct value as soon as possible with a torque wrench. HEADLIGHT BULB REPLACEMENT 1. Remove: Headlight lens unit 2. Disconnect: lens unit leads 3. Remove: Turn the bulb holder counterclockwise to release bulb. Do not touch headlight bulb when it is on as the bulb generates enormous heat; keep flammable objects away. 4. Install: (new) Secure the new bulb with the bulb holder. Avoid touching glass part of bulb. Also keep it free from oil otherwise, transparency of glass, bulb life and illuminous flux will be adversely affected. If oil gets on bulb, clean it with a cloth moistened thoroughly with alcohol or lacquer thinner. Don't touch 5. Install: lens unit 2-38
