4-5 WATER PUMP \ WATER PUMP DISASSEMBLY NOTE: sure to drain the coolant before disassembly of the cooling system components. *Refer to Engine Disassembly for water pump disassembly. 1. Remove: *Drive gear *Gear stopper pin *Impeller shaft 2. Eliminate: From the impeller and water pump housing. I NSPECTION 1. Inspect: *Bearing Replace. seal Replace. Impeller Replace. *Water pump seal set Replace. BEARING AND SEAL REPLACEMENT 1. Remove: *Bearing Tap off both components from water pump seal side. Crankcase cover 2. Remove: Water pump seal (crankcase side) Tap it off from the cover
-- I WATER PUMP 3. Install: pump Use Water Pump Seal Installer Apply Sealant (Quick to crankcase cover @ before installing seal. PRESS APPLY SEALANT (QUICK 4. Remove: No. 2 From impeller. Pry out with a small screwdriver. NOTE: Be careful not to scratch or bend the impeller shaft. Damper rubber 5. Apply: or coolant To outer surface of damper rubber and impeller hub. Never apply oil or grease to water pump seal surfaces. 6. Assemble: No. rubber To impeller hub. Slip ring APPLICATION OF WATER OR COOLANT 7. Measure: *Tilt Out of specification Repeat the above steps "4 6". NOTE: Be sure seal No. 2 fits squarely. Straight edge NO. Tilt Limit: 0.15 mm (0.006 in) I I 4-6
