4.5 Auxiliary power supply<br />

The main purpose of the auxiliary power supply module APS-24 is to generate<br />

24 V DC for the control circuits of the drive modules and of the power<br />

supplies that do not integrate the auxiliary power supply (i.e. PS-65A).<br />

This voltage is supplied through three identical connectors (X2, X3 and<br />

X4) connected in parallel that may be accessed from the face of the module.<br />

Includes protections against over-current and over-voltage both at the<br />

input and at the output.<br />

There is no need to use these power supplies for compact drives, regenerative<br />

power supplies (XPS-25, XPS-65, RPS-20, RPS-45, RPS-75 and<br />

RPS-80) and the non-regenerative power supply (PS-25B4). They all integrate<br />

an auxiliary power supply already with these features. However, an<br />

auxiliary power supply may be installed next to the units mentioned here<br />

when the required consumption exceeds what the integrated auxiliary<br />

power supply can provide. Hence, for example, when there are too many<br />

axes connected to the DC bus, there will be too many control circuits,<br />

fans etc. to supply power to. In that case, install an external auxiliary power<br />

supply that can provide all the required power.<br />
