Fanny Hervé, an eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g student at the Corps des Ponts et Chaussées,<br />
conducted a research <strong>in</strong>ternship at AFD on urban development <strong>in</strong> <strong>South</strong> Africa<br />
which led to the present book. After a six-month <strong>in</strong>ternship <strong>in</strong> Cambodia <strong>in</strong> the<br />
framework of cooperation between Paris and Phnom Penh, she will f<strong>in</strong>ish her<br />
studies with the specialized master’s degree <strong>in</strong> development and urban contract<strong>in</strong>g<br />
authority delivered by the École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées.<br />
