(Problem Tree)<br />

Facilitator’s Note:<br />

This is a good exercise to review all the things learned in the earlier exercises.<br />

It uses a Problem Tree method to make a list of forms, impacts, <strong>and</strong> causes. Then<br />

the group can do further analysis on causes <strong>and</strong> start looking at solutions.<br />

Objectives:<br />

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:<br />

Identify different forms of stigma <strong>toward</strong> men who have sex with men (MSM)<br />

<strong>and</strong> how stigma affects MSM, wives, families, communities, <strong>and</strong> the spread<br />

of HIV<br />

Identify some of the root causes of stigma <strong>toward</strong> MSM <strong>and</strong> possible<br />

solutions<br />

Target Group:<br />

All groups<br />

Time:<br />

1-2 hour<br />

Preparation:<br />

Using cards set up the structure for the problem tree on the wall.<br />

Write one or two example cards for each category <strong>and</strong> tape on the wall. See<br />

examples on the following page.<br />
