MSM<br />

In giving your summary you may use some of the following points, if they have not<br />

already been mentioned by participants.<br />

Discussing sex is taboo. We have been socialized not to talk about sex, especially<br />

in our families, between generations, or even between married couples.<br />

HIV can be transmitted sexually, so if we are to control this epidemic, we have<br />

to become better at talking about sex <strong>and</strong> learn to talk about sex in a<br />

non-judgmental way.<br />

Our views about the sexual practices of marginalized groups such as women,<br />

MSM <strong>and</strong> sex workers is a major factor in stigma. We judge or stigmatize<br />

others because of their sexuality.<br />

Women <strong>and</strong> MSM are accused of having sex to make money, <strong>and</strong> to find/keep<br />

a partner.<br />

MSM are stigmatized for having “immoral sex” (male to male sex, oral sex,<br />

anal sex).<br />
