The first message (figure 1) is just a casual message where the sender is shar<strong>in</strong>g<br />
her <strong>experience</strong>s of the present – the sender, Anna-Maija, is clearly enjoy<strong>in</strong>g<br />
her even<strong>in</strong>g and is shar<strong>in</strong>g some the elements of her <strong>experience</strong>s with text and<br />
image (rosy cheeks, towel around head, cab<strong>in</strong> porch). The recipient, Kira, shows<br />
the message to two other friends, Emma and Piitu, who take <strong>in</strong>terest <strong>in</strong> the summer<br />
place – maybe Kira and Emma have been there or seen pictures previously<br />
and talk enviously about the lake. With<strong>in</strong> a few m<strong>in</strong>utes, Emma takes over the<br />
phone and creates a reply from herself and Piitu (figure 2). The girls <strong>in</strong>troduce<br />
themselves with a picture as well as their names and create a request for more<br />
pictures of the cab<strong>in</strong>’s view of the lake. Back at the summer place Anna-Maija<br />
happily complies and with<strong>in</strong> three m<strong>in</strong>utes sends a picture of the sauna cab<strong>in</strong>,<br />
the first of a sequence of pictures describ<strong>in</strong>g the summer place (figure 3).<br />
3.3 THE INVITATION GREETINGS<br />
This message (figure 4) conta<strong>in</strong>s several elements: a greet<strong>in</strong>g, an emotive description<br />
and an <strong>in</strong>vitation all <strong>in</strong> one. It also shows how easily other people can<br />
participate <strong>in</strong> the message creation.<br />
Leena, the <strong>user</strong> of the phone, and her partner Pate have arrived at a summer<br />
place. They are there as guests of the woman <strong>in</strong> the picture and they probably<br />
