301-INTRODUCTION TO GENETICS. Prerequisite: Two semesters of life science.<br />
Basic principles of classical and modern genetics. Emphasis is placed on nuclear<br />
reproduction, Mendelian inheritance, non-Mendelian inheritance, and relation of<br />
genetics to evolution and speciation.<br />
Three lecture hours and three laboratory hours a week. Credit, four semester<br />
hours. Offered as needed.<br />
302-ECOLOGY. Prerequisite: One semester of a life science. A study of the<br />
relationships of plants and animals to the physical and biotic environments with<br />
emphasis on associations, successions, distributions, and adaptations.<br />
Three lecture hours and three laboratory hours a week. Credit, four semester<br />
hours. Offered as needed.<br />
303-MICROBIOLOGY. Prerequisite: Two semesters of life science or permission of<br />
instructor. A study of morphology, physiology, taxonomy, and ecology of microbes<br />
and viruses but with emphasis on the bacteria. Growth curves, principles and<br />
methods in immunology, and the role of microbes in medicine, industry, and<br />
agriculture will be considered. Laboratory methods of cultivation, examination,<br />
and identification of microbes, aseptic technique, and media preparation will be<br />
included.<br />

304-PARASITOLOGY. Prerequisite: Permission of instructor. A study of the<br />
structure, identification, classification, and life cycles of representative parasites,<br />
their hosts, and the principles involved in these relations.<br />
Three lecture hours and three laboratory hours a week. Credit, four semester<br />
hours. Offered as needed.<br />
305-ANIMAL NUTRITION. This class is a study of nutrient requirements and<br />
digestive physiology of domesticated animals. Feeding practices of equine, dairy,<br />
beef, poultry, swine and companion animals will be explored as well. Various<br />
needs regarding production (growth, egg and milk production, health etc.) will<br />
also be covered in this course.<br />
310-SURVEY OF HUMAN ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY. (Not for credit toward<br />
Biology Major.) This course is designed for individuals who need a good overview<br />
of the structure and function of the human body. It will include discussions<br />
of the integumentary, skeletal, muscular, circulatory, respiratory, lymphatic,<br />
