424-INTERNSHIP IN PSYCHOLOGY. Prerequisites: Senior standing with a major in<br />

Psychology, 2.5 grade-point average, and consent of the department. Provides<br />

students with experience in utilizing skills of the behavioral scientist in a human<br />

services setting. Placement may be arranged in a voluntary community agency,<br />

educational institution, mental health agency, and business or industry. Students<br />

will work closely with trained professionals, so that the placement provides an<br />

educational experience for the student as he or she contributes to the organization.<br />

Credit, three, six or nine semester hours. Offered fall and spring semester.<br />

425-SENIOR SEMINAR FOR INTERNS. Corequisite: Enrollment in Psychology 424.<br />

A seminar to be taken with Psychology 424 for the purpose of integrating the<br />

academic and professional experiences. Students enrolled in the internship meet<br />

with instructors to discuss readings, case studies, career opportunities, and field<br />

experiences.<br />

Three hours a week. Credit, three semester hours. Offered fall and spring<br />

semesters.<br />

Reading Courses<br />

010-READING AND STUDY SKILLS. A course for students who wish to improve<br />

their reading skills and study techniques. E ach student’s present degree of reading<br />

efficiency is diagnosed and instruction is given in the skills of comprehension,<br />

vocabulary development, and study.<br />

Two hours a week. Institutional credit, one semester hour. Offered fall and spring<br />

semesters.<br />

012-READING AND STUDY SKILLS LABORATORY. Prerequisite: Reading 010 or<br />

permission of instructor. A follow-up course for Reading 010 which emphasizes<br />

individual laboratory experiences for developing essential reading and study skills.<br />

Two to six hours a week. Institutional credit, one to three semester hours. Offered<br />

fall and spring semesters.<br />

102-ESL READING LABORATORY. A course designed for international students<br />

to further develop listening comprehension andreading skills in English through<br />

assignments based on individual proficiency in English.<br />

Two to six hours a week. Credit, one to three semester hours. May be taken for a<br />

maximum of six (6) hours credit.<br />
