486-STUDENT TEACHING FOR ADDITIONAL ENDORSEMENTS. Prerequisites:<br />

Valid teaching certificate or all other coursework required in the endorsement<br />

areas. A course designed to meet additional endorsement licensure. Supervised<br />

observation and participation is a part of the course. Student teaching for<br />

additional endorsements can only be done after the student has completed<br />

regular student teaching. Professional association membership required.<br />

Credit, three or six semester hours. Offered as needed. May be repeated for<br />

credit.<br />

487-STUDENT TEACHING. Prerequisites: A 2.5 GPA; 3.0 Area of Concentration<br />

GPA; Admission to Teacher Education Program and passing scores on all <strong>Virginia</strong><br />

<strong>Intermont</strong> <strong>College</strong> and <strong>Virginia</strong> Department of Education required assessments.<br />

This summer term class is the first part of a two-part student teaching experience,<br />

capstone course requires the student to be fully responsible for teaching. All<br />

licensure and Teacher Education requirements must be completed. An oncampus<br />

seminar accompanies the student teaching experience. It is designed<br />

to relate theory and practice through study and discussion of the problems<br />

and questions arising during the student teaching experience. Professional<br />

association membership required. Must successfully complete either Educ 489<br />

or EDUC 487 and 488 in order to obtain licensure. Twelve total hours of student<br />

teaching required.<br />

Credit, six semester hours. Offered summer semesters.<br />

488-STUDENT TEACHING. Prerequisites: EDUC 487. This summer term class<br />

is the second part of a two-part student teaching experience, capstone course<br />

requires the student to be fully responsible for teaching. All licensure and Teacher<br />

Education requirements must be completed. An on-campus seminar accompanies<br />

the student teaching experience. It is designed to relate theory and practice<br />

through study and discussion of the problems and questions arising during the<br />
