involvement in co-curricular opportunities, including adventure-based learning,<br />

intramural and recreational activities, social and multicultural experiences, and<br />

campus governance. Also, OSA provides advising and event planning support for<br />

all recognized student organization activities. Information about student activities<br />

can be obtained through the Director of Student Activities located on first floor<br />

Main Hall (276/466-7921) or at www.facebook.com/VIStudentActivities.<br />

All VI faculty, staff and students have the ability to form a club or organization in<br />

accordance with the policies and procedures outlined by the Office of Student<br />

Activities and the Cobra Student Handbook. In order to be officially affiliated as<br />

an organization and have the ability to use school resources and facilities, the<br />

organization must receives recognition through the Office of Student Activities<br />

and Student Government Association. Once recognized, each organization is<br />

required to register at the beginning of the fall semester and submit updated<br />

rosters, advisor information, and signed no-hazing forms.<br />

Music activities are provided for students who are interested in a musical outlet.<br />

Private lessons in piano, organ, and voice are available and membership in the<br />

Concert Choir is open to all students by audition.<br />

Art and photography exhibits of student work and the art and photo clubs furnish<br />

outlets for students with special interest in the visual arts.<br />

Drama productions involve students who are interested in acting, costuming,<br />

make-up, directing, scene-painting, and lighting - all the talents and capabilities<br />

needed in the theatre.<br />

<strong>Virginia</strong> <strong>Intermont</strong> has also developed the concept of the campus as a gallery.<br />

Through this project, the common areas on campus will be used as a gallery for<br />

college-owned student and faculty art.<br />

Student Publication: The Campus Crier is produced by a student staff and advised<br />

by a faculty, staff, or administrative member of the <strong>College</strong>.<br />

<strong>Virginia</strong> <strong>Intermont</strong> <strong>College</strong> encourages freedom of speech and freedom of the<br />

press. The <strong>College</strong> has an obligation to maintain order and discipline based upon<br />

the mission of the <strong>College</strong> and has an administrator who is responsible for specific<br />

student publications.<br />

Admissions Ambassadors promote an interest in <strong>Virginia</strong> <strong>Intermont</strong> for prospective<br />

students by giving campus tours, telephoning applicants, writing letters responding<br />

to inquiries, hosting prospective students, and other recruitment activities.<br />

Membership is acquired by signing up with the Admissions Office.<br />

Worrell Honors Program for Studies Abroad: Admission into the Worrell Honors<br />

Program for Studies Abroad is competitive and open to students with a 3.0 GPA<br />

or better. Substantial financial aid is available. The program has been centered<br />
