432-ORGANIZATION, ADMINISTRATION AND EVALUATION OF HEALTH, PHYSICAL<br />

EDUCATION AND SPORT. Problems and procedures of health, physical education,<br />

and sport programs with emphasis on budget, care of equipment and facilities,<br />

evaluation and assessment, and records and reports.<br />

Three hours a week. Credit, three semester hours. Offered fall semester, alternate<br />

years.<br />

Physical Science Courses<br />

105-PHYSICAL SCIENCE I. A study of the fundamental principles and applications<br />

of geology, astronomy, climatology, and oceanography.<br />

Three lecture hours and three laboratory hours a week. Credit, four semester<br />

hours. Offered fall semester.<br />

106-PHYSICAL SCIENCE II. Prerequisites: Math 131 or higher. A study of the<br />

fundamental principles and applications of chemistry and physics.<br />

Three lecture hours and three laboratory hours a week. Credit, four semester<br />

hours. Offered spring semester.<br />

300-PHYSICAL SCIENCE. This course includes subject matter from all of the nonliving<br />

sciences. Physics topics discussed are motion, energy, waves, electricity<br />

and electromagnetism. Chemistry subject matter includes inorganic, organic,<br />

water and nuclear chemistry. Astronomy issues consist of stellar evolution, the<br />

history of the universe, the solar system and the Earth/Moon system. Earth<br />

Science themes cover rocks & minerals, plate tectonic theory, building & shaping<br />

the Earth’s surface, the geologic time record and the essentials of climatology &<br />

hydrology. The fundamentals of using the scientific method and science math<br />

are covered in the laboratory. This includes data collection & display, significant<br />

figures, conversion factors and scientific notation.<br />

Three lecture hours and two laboratory hours a week. Credit four semester hours.<br />

Offered as needed.<br />

Physics Courses<br />

201-GENERAL PHYSICS I. Prerequisite: Mathematics 152 or permission of<br />

instructor. Includes a study of mechanics of solids and liquids, sound, heat and<br />

elementary electricity.<br />

Three lecture hours and two laboratory hours a week. Credit, four semester hours.<br />

Offered fall semester as needed.<br />
