2. Students approved for Leave of Absence are responsible for canceling<br />

any registration previously submitted for all future terms during the<br />

Leave of Absence.<br />

3. Students approved for Leave of Absence are subject to the Refund<br />

Policy outlined in the current <strong>College</strong> <strong>Catalog</strong> and are required to<br />

settle all bills with the <strong>College</strong> before leaving campus. Payment plans are<br />

available.<br />

4. A Leave of Absence does not mitigate pending or current judicial<br />

sanctions.<br />

5. Those who are on a Leave of Absence are still considered students<br />

at <strong>Virginia</strong> <strong>Intermont</strong> <strong>College</strong> and maintain all privileges, rights and<br />

responsibilities.<br />

a. Students are not eligible for financial aid disbursements during the<br />

semesters while on Leave of Absence. A student on an approved Leave<br />

of Absence will be reported to lenders and loan service agencies as<br />

“non-attending” and will need to contact his or her lenders for<br />

information on possible repayment requirements;<br />

b. Student enrollment verification for all other entities, such as<br />

immigration or parents’ health or auto insurance companies, will also<br />

be reported as “non-attending.”<br />

Terms for Students Returning from Leave of Absence<br />

1. Students who wish to return from the Leave of Absence must contact the<br />

Office of the Dean of Student Development, but does not need to reapply<br />

for admission. The student must visit the Registrar’s Office upon return<br />

to be advised on re-enrollment procedures.<br />

a. A student who leaves for medical reasons must provide documentation<br />

that the medical need has either been resolved or a course of treatment<br />

has been prescribed and that the student is cleared to return to the<br />

<strong>College</strong> by his or her doctor;<br />

b. Before registering for courses, students must be in good standing with<br />

the Business Office;<br />

c. If the student does not return by the semester indicated on the Leave<br />

of Absence form, the student’s status will be considered as withdrawn<br />

from the college and he or she will need to undergo formal readmission<br />

to <strong>Virginia</strong> <strong>Intermont</strong>;<br />
