FOUNDATIONAL ACADEMIC SKILLS – 9 credit hours<br />

Composition courses must be attempted in the first year and completed by the<br />

end of the third traditional semester of study; mathematics must be completed<br />

by the beginning of the fifth traditional semester of study.<br />

English 101: Composition or English 103: Honors Composition<br />

English 102: Composition & Literature or English 104: Honors<br />

Math 131: Finite Math; Math 140: <strong>College</strong> Algebra; Math 151: Pre-Calculus<br />

Algebra; or Math 152: Pre-Calculus Trigonometry<br />

HEALTHY LIFESTYLE – 2 credit hours<br />

• PE Activity Course<br />

May be taken from any physical education course offering that is activitybased<br />

AREAS OF STUDY– 22 credit hours<br />

For first-time, first-year students, all 22 credits required in the Areas of Study must<br />

be completed before entering the senior year of study. Senior status begins when<br />

the student earns 88 credit hours. This requirement ensures that the student is<br />

focused on his or her major area of study in the senior year. Transfer students with<br />

an unusually high number of transfer credits may be exempt from this policy with<br />

approval from the Office of the Provost, but transfer students must work closely<br />

with the major advisor to ensure completion of the Comprehensive Core before<br />

the last year of study.<br />
