Clinical Expertise<br />

Neurology<br />

<strong>The</strong> GP will demonstrate the ability to:<br />

• assess acute headache, including red flags<br />

• assess and manage patients post traumatic head injury<br />

and advise appropriate follow-up.<br />

• manage acute seizures in children and adults, including<br />

immediate management, management of status<br />

epilepticus, and appropriate transfer or referral<br />

Infection<br />

<strong>The</strong> GP will demonstrate the ability to:<br />

• diagnose and appropriately treat community-acquired<br />

pneumonia in adults<br />

• recognise sepsis and be able to initiate the appropriate<br />

pre-hospital antibiotic treatment <strong>for</strong> children and adults.<br />

Trauma<br />

<strong>The</strong> GP will demonstrate the ability to:<br />

• manage a variety of wounds<br />

• assess and manage fractures<br />

• assess and immediately appropriately manage burns<br />

• manage dislocations where appropriate.<br />

Metabolic<br />

<strong>The</strong> GP will demonstrate the ability to identify and manage acute metabolic emergency conditions:<br />

• Anaphylaxis<br />

• Hyper/hypokalaemia<br />

• Angioedema<br />

• Hyper/hypocalcaemia<br />

• Diabetic keto-acidosis<br />
