<strong>The</strong> GP will demonstrate the ability to:<br />

• manage acute care provision, especially out of hours, in<br />

such a way that the service is safe <strong>for</strong> patients and staff<br />

and sustainable, including standing orders and protocols<br />

• understand the funding issues and the related stresses<br />

in acute care provision<br />

• involve and lead the wider primary care teams in acute<br />

care provision, <strong>for</strong> example nurse triage and assessment,<br />

local ambulance service, rural hospital staff<br />

• learn and make use of new technologies that facilitate<br />

acute care.<br />
