1. Lecture: Documents State of Mind
Assignment: (1) Students access public records from a government institution and
explain how the records can be used in an in-depth story.

2. Field trip to a government hospital or an interesting event where students will
unobtrusively observe the goings-on.
Assignment: Students write up their observations, making sure to provide some
context and background. Due next meeting.
