DOD <strong>Defence</strong> Diplomacy <strong>Report</strong> for FY <strong>2008</strong>/09<br />

The importance <strong>of</strong> defence diplomacy as a vehicle to enhance the national foreign policy, New Partnership<br />

for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) goals and the African Agenda is emphasised by the international<br />

interaction <strong>of</strong> the DOD in the past year.<br />

SANDF <strong>Defence</strong> Attachés Representation<br />

Figure 1 indicates the South African National <strong>Defence</strong> Force (SANDF) <strong>Defence</strong> Attaché representation<br />

internationally for FY <strong>2008</strong>/09. Forty <strong>of</strong>cers are representing the DOD in 53 countries and at two<br />

international organisations.<br />
