ON THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE<br />

INFORMATION OF THE SOUTH AFRICAN NATIONAL<br />

DEFENCE FORCE FUND for the year ended 31 March <strong>2009</strong><br />

• Consistency: Has the fund’s reported on its performance with regard to its objectives, indicators and<br />

targets in its approved strategic plan<br />

• Relevance: Is the performance information as reected in the indicators and targets clearly linked to<br />

the predetermined objectives and mandate. Is this specic and measurable, and is the time period or<br />

deadline for delivery specied<br />

• Reliability: Can the reported performance information be traced back to the source data or<br />

documentation and is the reported performance information accurate and complete in relation to the<br />

source data or documentation<br />

The following audit ndings relate to the above criteria:<br />

• The fund did not include any targets in the annual report, and actual performance was indicated as Nil<br />

for all objectives.<br />

• Measures included in the annual report, is not well dened to enable verication.<br />

19. The assistance rendered by the staff <strong>of</strong> the South African <strong>Defence</strong> Force Fund during the audit is<br />
