Jarman index
The Jarman index or the Jarman underprivileged area score (UPA(8)) was
developed to serve as a measure of UK general practitioners' workload. It
has also been used as a proxy measure for deprivation in medical general
practice research although such use has been criticized (Jarman B (1983)
Identification of underprivileged areas. BMJ. 286:1705-9. Jarman B, Townsend
P, Carstairs V (1991) Deprivation indices. BMJ. 303: 523. Hippisley-
Cox J et al. (1997) Effect of deprivation on general practitioners' referral
rates. BMJ. 315: 1465-7).
Judgement
A judgement is an explicit indication of a person's (judge's) critical appraisal
of available evidence.
Judgement analysis
Judgement analysis refers to the methodologies associated with the modelling
and statistical analysis of how human judgements are made. Multiple
regression analysis forms the basis of much of the analysis (Cooksey RW
(1996) Judgment analysis: theory, methods and applications. Academic Press,
San Diego).
