C. ELECTIONS CONDUCTED BY THE BOARD
Number of elections and valid votes cast.-During the period ending
June 30, 1938, the Board conducted, through its agents, 1,152
elections, 6 812 by consent of the parties involved in the controversy
concerning representation, and 340 pursuant to Board order.
Approximately 394,558 workers were eligible to vote in these elections
and 350,960 actually participated in the polling. The fact that
about 89 percent of the eligible voters cast ballots in the elections conducted
by the Board is an indication of the keen interest shown by
