MTP 1(D), Vol. I 6425 EMPLOYMENT OF AIRCRAFT WHILE ON DIRECT SUPPORT Employment of aircraft on direct support is determined by the OTC or the ASWC/ASUWC as appropriate. On joining the force, the aircraft will be tasked using an appropriate Airplan based on the mission as promulgated in the tasking signal. The OTC cannot normally task a support aircraft on mission types other than that authorized by the original tasking authority. The only exception to this is when “KS” ASW operations is given, then the OTC can amplify aircraft using the mission designators in Table 6-4.
