Irina Aristarkhova is assistant professor of women’s studies and visual arts<br />

at Penn State University. She has published and lectured on technology<br />

and difference, sexual and cultural politics, feminist aesthetics, and Russian<br />

national identity. She is currently Wnishing a book provisionally titled<br />

“Matrixial Technologies.”<br />

Jesse Drew is a videomaker, multimedia artist, and writer who seeks to<br />

challenge the complacent relationship between the public and new media<br />

technologies. He is currently acting director of technocultural studies at the<br />

University of California, Davis, where he is working on a book exploring<br />

the roots of communications democracy.<br />

Okwui Enwezor is dean of academic affairs at the San Francisco Art Institute<br />

and adjunct curator at the International Center of Photography, New<br />

York. He served as the artistic director of “Documenta 11,” Kassel, Germany,<br />

and the Second Johannesburg Biennale. He is the founding publisher and<br />

editor of Nka: Journal of Contemporary African Art, and received the 2006<br />

Frank Jewett Mather award for distinction in art criticism.<br />

Rubén Gallo is assistant professor of Latin American literature at Princeton<br />

University, where he teaches courses on media and modernity in Mexico.<br />

He is the author of Mexican Modernity: The Avant-Garde and the Technological<br />

Revolution (winner of the 2006 Kovacs prize), New Tendencies in Mexican<br />

Art: The 1990s, and The Mexico City Reader. He has published extensively<br />

on contemporary Mexican art and was a regular contributor to the journals<br />

FlashArt, Poliester, and Trans.<br />
