Irina Aristarkhova is assistant professor of women’s studies and visual arts
at Penn State University. She has published and lectured on technology
and difference, sexual and cultural politics, feminist aesthetics, and Russian
national identity. She is currently Wnishing a book provisionally titled
“Matrixial Technologies.”
Jesse Drew is a videomaker, multimedia artist, and writer who seeks to
challenge the complacent relationship between the public and new media
technologies. He is currently acting director of technocultural studies at the
University of California, Davis, where he is working on a book exploring
the roots of communications democracy.
Okwui Enwezor is dean of academic affairs at the San Francisco Art Institute
and adjunct curator at the International Center of Photography, New
York. He served as the artistic director of “Documenta 11,” Kassel, Germany,
and the Second Johannesburg Biennale. He is the founding publisher and
editor of Nka: Journal of Contemporary African Art, and received the 2006
Frank Jewett Mather award for distinction in art criticism.
Rubén Gallo is assistant professor of Latin American literature at Princeton
University, where he teaches courses on media and modernity in Mexico.
He is the author of Mexican Modernity: The Avant-Garde and the Technological
Revolution (winner of the 2006 Kovacs prize), New Tendencies in Mexican
Art: The 1990s, and The Mexico City Reader. He has published extensively
on contemporary Mexican art and was a regular contributor to the journals
FlashArt, Poliester, and Trans.
