those cases which require minimal resources.Moreover, tackling one "difficult' case will beat the expense of dozens of easier ones.(al) The D of FS supports this recommendationand undertakes to regularly monitor thesituation of those private streets which mightcause impediment to fire fighting operationsand, if necessary, to draw up contingencymeasures.(am) This Office appreciates that there areresource and financial implications relating tothe EVA problems in the private streets.However, it would be . a pity if suchconsiderations form a stumbling block toresolving such problems in the private streets.This Office still hopes that the Administrationwould continue to work out a satisfactory longterm solution to such problems. As regardswhat measures would be found mutually agreeableand acceptable to both the owners/residentsconcerned and the Government, this would be amatter for the relevant government departmentsincluding the FSD, HAD, Lands D and others tolook into carefully in consultation with theowners/residents.Recommendation (8)(an) The D of HA supports the recommendationthat the BMCCs should strengthen theircoordinating efforts on eliminating firehazards inside the target buildings. He alsoremarks that the BMCCs are already taking suchactions and will continue to do so. The D ofFS also indicates his support for thisrecommendation as well as willingness tocontribute his efforts and assist the HAD inimplementing this recommendation, if required.Recommendation (3)(ao) The D of FS supports the recommendationfor drawing up a set of clearly definedguidelines regarding the delineation of 'large'- 124 -
