Appendix - Page 24. Street hydrantsStreet hydrants are inspected and tested half-yearly. During tests, the flowand pressure are measured to check if they satisfy the statutoryrequirements. They are also visually inspected to ensure that there is noleakage.5. Sprinkler systemsThey are tested in accordance with the rules of the Loss PreventionCouncil. Water is discharged from control valve sets to check if therequired pressure and flow can be met. Sprinkler pumps are checked toensure no dirt and blockage.6. Fire services pumpsThe maintenance works include checking, cleaning, greasing, oiling andreplacement of gaskets, packing gland, fuses and lamps in control panelwhen necessary. Strainers are dismantled and cleaned. Associatedpipeworks and valves are also checked to ensure no dirt and blockage.7. Fire detection and fire alarm systemsAll manual call points are visually examined to check that they are in goodserviceable condition and functionally tested to ensure that (a) all thealarm bells in the circuit can be activated, (b) the alarm signal can betransmitted to the Fire Signal Processing Agent (Chubb Electronics (HK)Ltd.) if equiped with a remoted fire station link, (c) the start of the firebooster pumps and (d) correct operation of firemen's lift. Batteries andaccessories are also checked to ensure they are in good serviceablecondition. All electrical circuits are also checked to ensure compliancewith the IEE Regulations.
