ANNEX V(d)Areas <strong>of</strong> ResponsibilitiesFire Service Installations DivisionLegislation1. <strong>The</strong> Buildings Ordinance, Cap. 123 - Section 21(6)(d).2. <strong>The</strong> Fire Service (Installations and Equipment) Regulations.3. <strong>The</strong> Fire Service (Installation Contractors) Regulations.Responsibilities1. To administer the Buildings Ordinance, Section 21(6)(d) which includes;-a. carrying out acceptance inspections and tests to fire service installations andequipment in new buildings; andb. issue <strong>of</strong> Fire Service Certificates (FS 172) following satisfactory inspections andtestings <strong>of</strong> fire service installations and equipment.2. To administer Fire Service (Installation Contractors) Regulations and Fire Service(Installations and Equipment) Regulations.3. To ensure that the requirements in the Code <strong>of</strong> Practices for Minimum Fire ServiceInstallations and Equipment and Inspection and Testing <strong>of</strong> Installations and Equipmentare complied with.4. To prescribe the Code <strong>of</strong> Practice for Inspection and Testing <strong>of</strong> Installations andEquipment.5. To carry out complaint inspections on defective fire service installations and equipment.6. To be responsible for fire hazard abatement actions in connection with defective fireservice installations and equipment.7. To be a member <strong>of</strong> various Liaison Groups with <strong>Hong</strong> <strong>Kong</strong> Institution <strong>of</strong> Architects,Association <strong>of</strong> Registered FSI Contractors, Architectural Services Department and MassTransit Railway Corporation.8. To lead a Working Group for FSI Inspection Procedures.9. To advise Authorised Persons, architects, consultant engineers and other GovernmentDepartments regarding design and installation details <strong>of</strong> fire service installations andequipment.10. To keep abreast <strong>of</strong> knowledge on the design and installation <strong>of</strong> fire service installationsand equipment.
