Fire Investigation(i)(ii)Constant review of the departmental procedures for ascertainingthe probable causes of fires.Investigation of fires of an unusual, nature; fires thatgenerate considerable public concern and ass instructed.(iii) Perusal of fire reports, and collation and compilation of datatherefrom as required.2« Research(i)(ii)Examination and study of researches carried out by local andoverseas organizations regarding fire protection.Testing and evaluation of local fire-fighting and fireprotection products.(iii) Close liaison with the Government Chemist, other Governmentdepartments, Hong Kong University and private agenciesregarding Fire Services studies tests, etc.(iv)3. GeneralAssessing the workload, nature and degree of specialisedassistance to other Government departments and private .agencies.(i)Formulation of fire protection and prevention legislation whereapplicable.(ii)Preparation of submissions on details/recommendations inrespect of staffing of Investigation/Research Sub-division andacquisition of equipment.(iii) Approval of portable fire service equipment and maintenance ofa list of equipment so approved;(iv)Prohibition on sale of certain portable equipment..
