Annex V{c)Areas of ResponibilitiesNew Airport-Core Projects DivisionLegislationThe Buildings Ordinance Cap 123 - Part II, Section 16(1) (b)(i) & (ii) andSection 2Mb) (d) .Responsibilities1. To administer the Buidings Ordinance, Section 16(1)(b) and Section21(6)(d) which involve :-(i)Formulation of Fire Services requirements and recommendations inrespect of ACP projects;(ii) Certification of architects 1 plans and issue of certificate (FS161) following satisfactory incorporation of requirements intoplans;(iii) Certification of fire service installations layout planssubmitted by fire service contractors; and(iv)Certification of completed fire service installations and issueof certificate {FS 172) following satisfactory inspection andtesting.2. To advise architects and engineers regarding building materials, fireequipment, fire resistant and retardant properties of materials.3. To ensure that the Codes of Practice for Minimum Fire ServiceInstallations and Equipment and Inspection and Testing of , ..Installations and Equipment are complied with.4. To implement and administer departmental policy on fire protectionplanning.•5. To carry out progress inspections and acceptance tests to completedfire service installations in new buildings of ACP projects.6. To be responsible for the fire precautions in Government buildings andquarters, including the supply, installation, testing and maintenanceof portable fire-fighting equipment.
