Delbrück FellowsDelbrück-StipendiumDelbrück Fellowships at the MDC are intendedto allow promising young scientists to carryout their own independent research. DelbrückFellows have demonstrated that they are capable ofconducting high quality research.Fellows are associated with MDC host research groupsand, therefore, receive lab space, infrastructure, and aresearch budget. The host research group guaranteesthe Fellow’s independence in terms of research topic.In addition to MDC support, Fellows are expected toapply for external funding sources. Fellowships aretypically granted for between three and 5 years.Eligible are post-doctoral scientists with a strong recommendationfrom an MDC group leader. Applicationsare received by the MDC Scientific Director andreviewed by a selection committee. During the reportperiod, the MDC supported 6 Delbrück Fellows.Delbrück-Stipendien sind am MDC eingerichtet,um die frühe Unabhängigkeit junger, erfolgsversprechenderWissenschaftler zu ermöglichen. Siesind für Wissenschaftler vorgesehen, die bereits nachgewiesenhaben, dass sie hervorragende eigenständige,wissenschaftliche Arbeit leisten.Die Delbrück-Stipendiaten sollen an bestehendeArbeitsgruppen des MDC Berlin-Buch angegliedert werden,in diesem Rahmen wird ihnen Raum und Infrastruktursowie ein Sachmittelbudget zur Verfügunggestellt. Die gastgebende Forschungsgruppe garantiertStipendiaten/Stipendiatin thematische Unabhängigkeit,die selbstständige Einwerbung von Drittmittelnwird erwartet. Das Stipendium wird in der Regel für eineLaufzeit von drei bis fünf Jahren gewährt.Bewerben können sich Postdoktoranden auf Empfehlungeines Forschungsgruppenleiters aus dem MDC Berlin-Buchbeim MDC-Vorstand. Es folgt dann eine Begutachtungin den MDC Gremien. Im Berichtszeitraum hatdas MDC insgesamt 6 Stipendiaten gefördert.240 Academics
