Chapter 4:Implement<strong>at</strong>ion<strong>of</strong> <strong>Review</strong>Recommend<strong>at</strong>ions16This chapter outlines <strong>the</strong> structure and processes for implementing <strong>the</strong> <strong>Review</strong>’s recommend<strong>at</strong>ions.It describes <strong>the</strong> overarching framework and approach to reform <strong>at</strong> ADFA. This chapter also identifiesrisks to implement<strong>at</strong>ion <strong>of</strong> recommend<strong>at</strong>ions and <strong>the</strong> sustainability <strong>of</strong> cultural change. 1In summary:• The Audit is confident th<strong>at</strong> <strong>the</strong> recommend<strong>at</strong>ions are being implemented with a view tocre<strong>at</strong>ing lasting change• ADFA has ensured th<strong>at</strong> <strong>the</strong>re are appropri<strong>at</strong>e resources to support <strong>the</strong> implement<strong>at</strong>ion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>recommend<strong>at</strong>ions, specifically through <strong>the</strong> cre<strong>at</strong>ion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> RIT• There is uneven knowledge <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Review</strong>’s purpose and intended outcomes among ADFAstaff and undergradu<strong>at</strong>es, and gre<strong>at</strong>er institutional buy-in will assist in <strong>the</strong> process <strong>of</strong> culturalevolution• ADFA must be cognisant <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> fact th<strong>at</strong> <strong>the</strong> RIT has a limited lifespan, and ADFA will berequired to embed change when <strong>the</strong> RIT is disbanded.IntroductionThe ADF is actively pursuing an agenda <strong>of</strong> significant cultural transform<strong>at</strong>ion as it addresses <strong>the</strong>recommend<strong>at</strong>ions <strong>of</strong> all <strong>the</strong> cultural reviews. In this context, and given <strong>the</strong> scope and n<strong>at</strong>ure <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>reform envisioned by this <strong>Review</strong>’s recommend<strong>at</strong>ions, it is prem<strong>at</strong>ure to make a definitive assessment<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> success <strong>of</strong> implement<strong>at</strong>ion or <strong>the</strong> achievement <strong>of</strong> outcomes. Cultural change takes time andmuch <strong>of</strong> wh<strong>at</strong> <strong>the</strong> Audit assessed is work in progress. The <strong>Review</strong> gener<strong>at</strong>ed significant momentum for change and capitalising on <strong>the</strong> motiv<strong>at</strong>ion andaccountability for change early in <strong>the</strong> process can secure important wins and demonstr<strong>at</strong>e commitment.Setting up visible and transparent structures and processes to support change is also a critical part <strong>of</strong>successful implement<strong>at</strong>ion. These factors formed part <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Audit’s assessment.
