Title: Perceptions of the Research Office
Abstract:
The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) at the University of Arkansas at Little
Rock (UALR) was concerned with how its faculty and professional staff perceived the office. The
office wanted to determine the level of satisfaction of the services it provides; determine which
services researchers appreciate and which need to be improved; and determine what factors effect
faculty and professional staff who have not sought funding within the past four years. The surveys,
adapted Eastern Michigan University, went to A) only for those who have submitted proposals
and have been funded in the past four years; B) only for those who have submitted proposals,
but have not been funded in the past four years; C) only for those faculty who have not requested
external funding in four years or more, or those faculty who have never requested external funding;
D) Only for those staff persons who manage grants and contracts received by the university.
Four hundred ninety-one surveys were distributed to all four groups, and a total of 71 surveys
were received. This poster will present the surveys used and present the findings from the surveys
received by group. Note: The effort cited here was reviewed by the Institutional Review Board that
determined that it was exempt from regulations under 45 CFR 46.101. The poster will include this
information and will also include the official protocol number.
