Curator
Felix Vogel
Felix Vogel (b. 1987) is a researcher and curator.
Studies in art history, media theory, philosophy and
aesthetics at HfG Karlsruhe and Universidad
Autónoma de Madrid. His research and curatorial
practice is focused on the relations between aesthetics
and the social sphere. Consequently, he is
interested in areas linked to activism, gender, historical
avant-gardes as well as participative architecture.
In 2008 he edited two books for One Star Press
(Paris): "Renaud Auguste-Dormeuil: Fin de
représentation" and "Lia Perjovschi: Sense" and has
written for different magazines, among others
Pavilion, Cura, Displayer and AFI. Felix Vogel gave
lectures in institutions such as Index (Stockholm),
Evento (Bordeaux) and Pavilion Unicredit
(Bucharest). He taught workshops and seminars at
HEAD Geneva, Free Academy Bucharest and 1.
Curatorial Symposium Sofia/Plovdiv.

Studiază istoria artei, istoria media, filozofie și estetică
la HfG Karlsruhe și Universidad Autónoma de
Madrid. Cercetarea și practica sa curatorială se concentrează
asupra relațiilor dintre estetică și sfera
socială. Prin urmare, este interesat de domenii
legate de activism, gen, avangardele istorice și arhitectura
participativă. În 2008 a editat două volume

Daniel Béland
Daniel Béland is Canada Research Chair in Public
Policy and Professor at the Johnson-Shoyama
Graduate School in Public Policy (University of
Saskatchewan). Holding a PhD in Political
Sociology from the École des Hautes Études en
Sciences Sociales (Paris), he has been a visiting
scholar at Harvard University and The University of
Chicago, and a Fulbright Scholar at The George
Washington University and the National Academy
of Social Insurance. From July 2001 to December
2007, Professor Béland taught sociology at the
University of Calgary. He has published six books
and more than fifty articles in major scholarly journals.
With John Myles, he also co-edited a special
issue of the Canadian Journal of Sociology devoted
to social policy reform in contemporary societies
His most recent books are "Public and
Private Social Policy: Health and Pension Policies
in a New Era" (Palgrave Macmillan, 2008; co-edited
with Brian Gran) and "Nationalism and Social
Policy: The Politics of Territorial Solidarity" (Oxford
University Press, 2008; co-authored with André
Lecours). In July 2010, Oxford University Press
(New York Office) will publish his seventh book:
"Ideas and Politics in Social Science Research"
(co-edited with Robert H. Cox). Three months later,
Polity Press will release his eighth book: "What is
Social Policy? Understanding the Welfare State".
Daniel Béland este Canada Research Chair în
politici publice și profesor de politici publice la
Școala Postuniversitară Johnson-Shoyama
(Universitatea Saskatchewan). Având un doctorat
în sociologie politică de la École des Hautes
Études en Sciences Sociales (Paris), a fost profesor
invitat la Universitatea Harvard și Universitatea
Chicago, și bursier Fulbright la Universitatea
George Washington University și Academia
Națională de Asigurare Socială. Din iulie 2001 până
în decembrie 2007, profesor Béland a predat sociologia
la Universitatea Calgary. A publicat șase

Sociologie, dedicată politicilor sociale de reformă în

Julia Brotea
Julia Brotea is a PhD candidate in her fourth year of
political science studies at Carleton University. She
focuses on political theory and bioethics and her
supervisor is Dr. Tom Darby. She is the recipient of
a three-years Social Science and Humanities
Research (SSHRC) grant and an Ontario Graduate
Scholarship. Julia completed her master’s thesis,
titled "The Intellectual in Political Transition," at the
University of Calgary under Dr. Michael Keren’s
supervision. Her thesis looked at the role of intellectuals
operating under a transition to democracy and
she examined the intellectual life of Romanian
Gabriel Liiceau as a case study. Her current work
seeks to tap into philosophical resources that can
assist political decision-making in end of life issues.
Her PhD thesis is tentatively titled "On Dying and
Becoming: a study on political challenges of
biotechnology." She contends that while political
problems may emerge from biotechnology, the
solutions to these problems, if found at all, will not
be found in biotechnology, but in politics.
Julia Brotea este doctorand în cel de-al patrulea an
de studiu de ştiinţe politice la Universitatea
Carleton. Se concentrează pe teoria politică şi
bioetică, iar conducătorul ei de lucrare este Dr. Tom
Darby. A primit o bursă de 3 ani pe Cercetare în
Ştiinţele Umaniste şi Sociale (SSHRC) şi o bursă la
Universitatea Ontario. Julia şi-a terminat teza de
master, intitulată „Intelectualul în tranziţia politică”,
la Universitatea Calgary, sub supravegherea lui Dr.
Michael Keren. Lucrarea sa a analizat rolul intelectualilor
ce operează în cadrul unei tranziţii către
democraţie şi a examinat viaţa intelectuală a lui
Gabriel Liiceanu ca un studiu de caz. Cercetarea ei
actuală încearcă să abordeze resursele filozofice
care pot asista deciziile politice în probleme de
îngrijire paliativă. Teza ei de doctorat este momentan
intitulată „Despre moarte şi devenire: un studiu
despre provocările politice ale biotehnologiei”. Ea
susţine că în timp ce problemele politice pot fi generate
de biotehnologie, soluţiile la aceste probleme,
dacă sunt găsite, nu sunt găsite în biotehnologie, ci
în politică.
Andrei Crăciun
Andrei Crăciun (b. 1988) is a curator and theoretician,
studying architecture at University of
Bucharest. His research and curatorial practice is
focused on the relations between architecture, politics
and the social sphere. Consequently, he is
interested in areas linked to activism, gender, as
well as participative architecture. Among his last
curatorial projects is "100 Romanian Minutes"
(Bucharest, Cluj, Iasi, Timisoara). Since 2008 he is
the coordinator of PAVILION UNICREDIT - center
for contemporary art & culture and he was appointed
as assistant curator for BUCHAREST BIEN-
NALE 2010. Curently is working on his new curatorial
projects "Utopia of Exotic" for Pavilion,
Bucharest and "Destroing Public Harmony" for
Brukenthal Museum - Contemporary Art Gallery,
Sibiu. Living and working in Bucharest.
Andrei Crăciun (n. 1988) este curator, teoretician și
studiază arhitectura la Universitatea din București.
Practica și cercetarea sa se concentrează pe
relația dintre arhitectură, politică și sfera socială. În
același timp este interesat de ariile de legătură dintre
activism, gender, ca și de arhitectura participativă.
Printre ultimele sale proiecte curatoriale se
află "100 de minute românești". Din 2008 a fost
numit coordonator al centrului de arta și cultură
contemporană PAVILION UNICREDIT și din 2009
assistant curator al BUCHAREST BIENNALE 4. În
prezent lucrează la două noi proiecte curatoriale
"Utopia of Exotic" pentru Pavilion și "Destroying
Public Harmony" pentru Brukenthal Museum -
Contemporary Art Gallery, Sibiu. Trăiește și
lucrează în București.
Răzvan Ion
Răzvan Ion (b. 1970) is a theoretician, curator, cultural
manager and political activist. He is the co-editor
(with Eugen Rădescu), of the PAVILION - journal
for politics and culture, co-director of Bucharest
Biennale and in 2008 he was appointed as director
of PAVILION UNICREDIT- center for contemporary
art & culture. He lectured at University of California
-Berkeley, Headlands Center for the Arts-California,
Political Science Faculty - Cluj, Art Academy -
Timisoara, La Casa Encedida - Madrid, Calouste
Gulbenkian - Lisbon, etc. He writes in different
magazines and newspapers. Now he is working on
the book project "Exploring the Return of
Repression" and his new curatorial project “Smash
the Church! Smash the State!” dealing with anarchist
and collective activism and social-political
movements in art. Lives and works in Bucharest.
