The non-teaching staff is imparted required orientation and training on the job<br />

to learn the skills related to their functional areas under the guidance and<br />

supervision of their respective controlling officers. Non-teaching staff is<br />

intensively involved in new initiatives and programmes which have helped in<br />

building their skills and competencies and boosting their confidence and<br />

morale.<br />

6.3.2 What is the outcome of the review of various appraisal methods<br />

used by the university? List the important decisions.<br />

Following appraisals have been carried out from time to time and the decisions<br />

taken are given as follows:<br />

1 Appraisal of the performance of students in exams- Allow or not to<br />

allow the students to continue further studies /seek admission in Master<br />

Programmes, Provide the facility for appearing in back paper,<br />

improvement examination, Provide for remedial classes.<br />

2 Student feedback on teaching and facilitation- Improvement in the<br />

teaching and learning process and well as enhancing the learning<br />

infrastructure.<br />

3 Self appraisal reports by the faculty- To continue or discontinue a<br />

contractual faculty, to confirm or extend the probation of a regular<br />

faculty, to consider case of promotion under the CAS.<br />

6.3.3 What are the welfare schemes available for teaching and nonteaching<br />

staff? What percentage of staff have benefitted from these<br />

schemes in the last four years? Give details.<br />

In terms of welfare schemes the faculty/teaching staff have been provided<br />

residential accommodation in the campus. Some regular and contractual<br />

faculties have been given temporary accommodation in the faculty lodge guest<br />

house. For non teaching staff, accommodation has been provided to only Vice<br />

Chancellor and the Registrar. There are no residential quarters for the non<br />

teaching staff in the campus as yet.<br />

The faculty and staff are provided very limited healthcare facility in terms of a<br />

part time doctor in the University dispensary. The University has tied up with<br />

the Mahant Indresh Hospital, Dehradun, for treatment wherein they are given<br />

20% discount in their medical bills.<br />

The teachers and staff are entitled for their leave benefits as per rules.<br />

There are no other welfare schemes.<br />

6.3.4 What are the measures taken by the University for attracting and<br />

retaining eminent faculty?<br />
